Summer vacation - Day 41

Since Bill missed out on the girls' homemade supper yesterday, Maelie prepared him lunch! She made more stuffed potatoes and a bit of chicken in our grill... with ketchup of course!! I am happy she is able to do this on her own... !!

I took a few hours off Wednesday afternoon and took Naomie and Maelie to the water park. I could not BELIEVE how many people were there!! WOW!! I would say it was actually double the amount that were there on Sunday when we visited!! The girls didn't mind though!

They waited patiently in line!! While I read and took pictures of them.

It takes teamwork to bring these big tubes up! Maelie wishes they had a lift for the tubes!

I never tire of seeing them get to the bottom! They always have smiles on their faces!

They enjoyed it sooooo much! :)

Maelie convinced Naomie to do this ride, the one we call the toilet! You spin around and then plop down in the water!

The deal was if Naomie tried the toilet, then Maelie had to try the Tornado... once done, Maelie couldn't believe she had been scared to try it! She actually thought it was much slower than some others she enjoyed. She is pretty brave now!

This slide is one of her favorites :) They go down on their tummy's.

What a day! We were blessed with a nice home cooked meal by Sonia when we were done! Yummy quesedillas and nachos!

What another wonderful day! We got our votamin D today that's for sure!

Summer vacation - Day 40

Bill took Maelie out to Bar & Billiard, Club de Billiard de Gatineau today! He taught her how to play pool! She was quite excited :)

Such a serious face! She played well apparently!

There are just some things that Daddy has to teach her! I can play pool but I am by far not a pro!!

After work, we went to the physio and it went quite well. Maelie felt a bit tortured, LOL but she learned new exercises that will help her. We are hopeful!! We trust all these professionals to resolve the mystery.

Sonia and Naomie came over afterwards. Sonia and I crafted while I put the girls to work! They had to make our supper!

Maelie got the blackboard and whiteboard out. Each could write down notes for their recipe.

Naomie is not as used to playing in the kitchen as Maelie so I think she was a bit confused by my request to have them make supper! As you can tell though, she was up for the challenge :)

Hard at work taking her chef job very seriously!!

I helped them only by wetting the rice papers in hot water.

Ta-da!! Nice presentation :)

Naomie's recipe was was a stuffed potato! The filling was made with mushrooms, carrots, cheese and garlic scapes! They thought they were green onions, but they were garlic scapes from Juniper's. It was extremely tasty!! I think the scapes gave it quite the flavour.

Maelie's dish consisted of spring rolls! YUM! They were really delicious! I could have eaten a lot more of them! The dipping sauce was really good. I even dipped my croutons in it! MMMMMmmmmm!!

Way to go girls! I will expect more meals soon!!!

Summer vacation - Day 39

This evening we went to Lou's for supper as it was Ingvild's last supper here! She is leaving tonight...

The weather was fine until is  started POURING rain!! We were covered, but the sound it made on that vinyl roof was SOOOO loud that we couldn't even hear each other speak! We ended up moving inside.

We spent a couple of hours at home before Ingvild had to leave for her flight. We were sad to see her go!! Thankfully the skies had cleared for her travels to begin!! We will miss you Ingvild!!

Summer vacation - Day 38

This is what my beans look like today! They are sprouting like crazy!

This morning I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Juniper Farm!

I love their little shack full of yummy fresh produce! We bought carrots, beans, cabbage, broccoli and cucumbers!

We brought Peluche along for the ride since he loves car rides!

Maelie got to feed the turkeys some scraps! They grew since we saw them last! Apparently they are going out to pasture soon so we won't see them again!

Once home, we decided to make some banana muffins since some of our bananas were way too ripe.

Maelie did most of the mixing and mashing :) She is quite good in the kitchen!

They even tasted MUCH more delicious than they look! That recipe is a keeper :)

This evening we went to play bowling. Maelie was able to fit her orthotics inside her bowling shoes. She LOVES to bowl and felt so good doing it!! She hasn't lost her touch...

She feels right at home at a bowling alley :)

Summer vacation - Day 37

First thing on our calendar today was attending a funeral. My colleague at work lost his dad and so I chose to attend. Maelie came along as well. It's good for her to experience these things even if they are not that pleasant. She found the biggest pine cone she had ever seen and took it home to Bill.

We weren't sure what to do for the rest of the day,  so we decided to call Sierra at the last minute to see if she felt like going to Mont Cascade. She and Maelie are quite the same for rides, so I figured they probably would be the same for waterslides as well!

Thankfully there was a lot of laughing ! I was nervous that they would both be too nervous to try anything!

That was AWESOME! - Maelie said after they came down!

As I waited for them, what did I see? A Monarch butterfly!! I had just been complaining this past week that we didn't see any this year! There was even an article on cbc.ca about the lack of Monarch's this year!

They are just SOOOOO beautiful! A perfect piece of nature!!

The girls kept going up on the same ride for a while... how exhausting! SOOOO many stairs!

They both tried this one as well. Maelie loved it! Sierra not so much because she ended up half off the mat!

A little relaxing in the waterfall...

Maelie ended up brave anough at the end to try the ride she said she would never try! The toilet bowl! She was quite brave!!

After dropping off Sierra, we decided to try Routine Poutine which is a new poutine place that opened up recently. Yolu can get many different kinds of poutine with all kinds of meats and veggies. I just tried a traditional plain one, with peppercorn sauce! It wasn't as good as Patate sur la 5e in Shawinigan... but it was ok.

Quite the day we had!! :) Early bedtime for us tonight....!!

Summer vacation - Day 36

Maelie was at Myriam's house today so I went there after work for supper and then to take her home! Her face was quite tanned when I picked her up so I am pretty sure they spent a lot of time in the pool today!!

Jacinthe and I played a few games of Rummy while the kids played.

Jacinthe had a little helper... asking her once again to explain the goal of this game.

Cooling down with a freezie!

Maelie was exhausted by the time we left! So much playing is enough to wear someone out!! We are surely gonna miss our friends when they move away to Quebec in a few weeks!!

Summer vacation - Day 35

Maelie was finally feeling energetic enough today to hang out with a friend! Jacinthe picked her up this morning. I got Maelie at their house at 4 pm to take her to the chiropractor. It went well! We are getting a clearer and clearer picture of her condition. Currently she sees an osteopath, a physio, a chiro and a chronic pain team at CHEO. We are really trying to focus more on the first 3 because they don't involve medication. I hate givin Maelie meds so right now we are sticking to the extra vitamins... but no meds, other than advil. We are discovering a lot of issues in her lower back which make sense a lot!

After her appointment, I brought her back to Myriam's house for dinner and sleepover. I stayed for a bit and then headed home.

I had brought Peluche over to Jacinthe's house so that he wouldn't spend too much time alone at home!

This is him cruisin' on our way home... :)

So it's just him an I hangin' out tonight!!
