Halloween party 2012

Maelie's 2012 Halloween party is all done and over with! Yesterday morning I was up at 4 am getting ready and did not sit down until after the party. Needless to say every single muscle in my body hurt when I hit the pillow! LOL

Here is the official group picture for this year! House full of girls!

Here is Maelie dressed up in her Morph-something! It's a whole one piece suit - I think the Air cast gives it away though!! This costume was the back up... the one I was working one, well let's just say I ran out of time! It might be done for Halloween though!

First off, before supper, to break the ice, I had a printed copy of this guy... they had to find him. If they found him, they got a prize!

It was located in the messy bookshelf! So all the kids got a mouse trap.

Picture of the table before the storm!

Here are some pics of the food. We had Sand-Witches (some cheese, some ham)

These are the push pops that I tried for the very first time!

Rice Crispie pumpkins!

I love these little sheppard pie ghosts!! I love the little eyes on them.

The kids each had a mason jar for their drinks. Only the brave ones would drink from it!

Inside the jar was a frog with frog eggs! The eggs were tapioca balls dyed green.

Here is a side view... I loved it!

If anyone wanted ketchup, it was in a giant syringe!

One of the guests brought some cupcakes that she made herself!

I can't believe I didn't take a picture of the Poop fountain! I brought my little chocolate fountain our and cut up some fruit. The girls gobbled that up !! The sticks were in a jar wrapped with a dirty diaper! I also didn't get a pic of the Cheesy intestines!! Basically, it was some long macaroni noodles with a homemade cheese sauce, baked in a cupcake tin. When it came out it was quite gross! but tasty :)

After everyone was super full from all that eating, we headed to the basement to play games! Maelie had decorated her board with pumpkins and names of kids at the party.

One game required us to hide a ghost treat on a person (in a shoe, under a hat, etc...) One person was out of the room and when they came in, we had to make louder ghost sounds the closer they got to the hidden treat!

We also played the waiter game. I divided the kids in 2 teams. Each their turn, they had to be a waiter and carry the balloon on a plate to the end and back without letting it fall.

Since we had the balloons out, we simply switched the game to a sweeping game. Basically the same idea, but this time they had to sweep the balloon around the cones and back.

Each child got a small cauldron, and a straw. The idea was to suck up a candy corn at a time, and put it in their cauldron. We kept going until they had 5 in their cauldrons.

This game was supposed to be tying the pantyhose around your waist and without your hands, trying to get the pumpkin to the end ... however I thought that it would take ALL night to do that... so i just let them hold the pantyhose in their hands and try to hit the tiny pumpkin from one end of the room to the other. Of course by the end some of the kids were trying to be a bit silly... but it all ended well.

Time for a quieter game for a minute!! Each team had a cookie sheet with magnetic words on it. They had to try and make a sentence each and read it out to everyone. So really, it wasn't a competition but just a fun way to calm down a little!

I kept this game for close to the end....! It required half the kids sitting face to face with the other half. They all had a skull glass in their hands. Each kid had 15 candy corns. They had to throw the candy corns in the cups of the people across them.

I knew it would start out all quiet and calm and end up with candy corn all over! LOL But they did a reasonable job at remaining under control.

That was the time where parents started arriving so I quickly had to get the rest of the prizes out and have them get one of each!! They were all really happy with all the surprises.

Once everyone was gone, I tidied up the kitchen quickly, and then Maelie and I headed off to bed!! We were just really exhausted !! We had a fun time. I don't know how many years I have left before they don't want parents involved anymore... but for now, I am milking it while I can!! :)

Happy Halloween!!!

More Halloween treats!

I managed to get a photo shoot done this morning at 4 am as I was cleaning my craft room up for the party! Just doing THAT is quite the job!! I'm slowly getting there!

I saw this idea somewhere, forgive me for not giving credit to the person right now because I don't remember! They are real mousetraps with gummy mice!! ewwwwwww!

Here is a closer look. Of course I took off the part where they could actually set it up and injure themselves...  When I bought the 14 traps at once, I did have the urge to tell the lady at the cash that I did NOT have a mouse problem!

I found the tutorial for a little dispenser box. I loved the idea so I modified it a little bit.  Now of course I can't find the link to it... but if I do find it I will come and include it.

The monsters mouth opens up and there are jellybeans waiting for you to eat them!

Here are some Tic-tac ghosts!

I also got this idea online, and of course, when I need it I can't find the link to the tutorial! Booooooo!

I collected some fruit cup cans for a while to make these little treat cups! When you open them from the bottom with a Pampered chef can openener, you can reseal them after they've been cleand and filled!

I had quite the adventure with the glue for these things... let's just say that you should not use your fingers when applying Gorilla Glue!!! I love how they turned out though!!

When the kids want their treat, they will have to open the top as they would have if they were eating a fruit cup.

Now onto these little pumpkin baskets.

They are so pretty in person!

I love the detailed embossing. I also used a shiny cardstock I got a few years ago and finally put it to good use! The shine is very delicate. I love the patterned leaves that embellish the plain pumpkins! Once again this idea is not mine... I copied it from this person, Debbie's Designs .

These are cute little cones in a cone shaped bag. I cut out a 12 inche circle, and cut it in half for my pattern. Then I rolled up the half circle until it fit in the cellophane cone bags. I found the idea on someones Etsy page online.

Here is a closer look of one of them.

Next is the witch and her broom! This idea was online as well. I used a brown coffee filter and a lollipop. The stick was colored black with my Copic marker.

You can see the sucker here underneath the broom's straw! SO easy to make and so cute!!

Well that's about it for now!! If I have time I will work on more ideas... but today and tomorrow I will be working on Halloween food for the party tomorrow!! So many ideas , so little time!!

Halloween party goodies - sneak peak!

Maelie's Halloweem party is coming up this weekend and I have been working hard in between appointments, work and sleep to make some cute treats for the girls coming to the party. Here are some adorable coffins that I made using the Big shot pro coffin die.

I put black lace all around each coffin lid.

Inside was a coffin made of chocolate and a bag with 10 homemade Halloween chocolates. I love how they turned out!!

This idea came from a website and I forget which one! Little vellum bag ghosts!

Aren't they so sweet all grouped up, ready to spook? Nah... they aren't very scary! Just cute!

Here are 1 X 8 cello bags fillied with Halloween Scaries (smarties changed their name for Halloween! They are Scaries now!)

I found these gummies at Bulk Barn and couldn't resist! Cute little brains! I got the little petrie dishes at Canadawide Scientific. It's amazing what I can find there! I just wish I could get everything in smaller quantities! As for the treats...  I used some decorative tape to keep the lid closed.

MMMMmmmmm.... brains.....

These little bags are from Pritchard Packaging. I stamped some Halloween images on the bag, sponged them all to make them look a bit dirty, and added a Halloween stamped ticket, and clothes pin that was embellished!

I find the clothespins look so adorable all fancied up! I plan on doing this for other occasions... it's simple and cute!

I have more treats made that I just haven't photographed yet! More to come.... treats, gross meal, and a party recap will be posted on Sunday!

Halloween invitations!

Maelie's party invites were inspired by Martha Stewart this year! I saw some severed fingers at Michaels and thought it would be perfect! Maelie invited 12 friends (you only see 11 because there's a set of twins in there!) All girls this year.... I think it will be a CRAZY time. Lots of energy in that bunch. Especially when they are together. What was I thinking!!??

A closer blurry look of the box... I didn't feel like taking another pic. :)

I wanted to buy the box premade but logistically, it was impossible for me to head out to my favorite packaging store to pick some up on time to get these done!! So I just measured it in my head and made a simple box. It turned out great! That orange part is just to block out address and phone number, it's not actually part of the invitation. Some fingers have the Razzleberry colored ribbon... and other have orange.

I added a bit of fake blood where the plaster finger ends, and ta da! A nice cut off finger for Halloween! The ribbon on the finger reminds us not to "forget" the Halloween party!

I can't believe it is just a week and a half away though!! Not sure I will make it !! Then again, I'm sure I say that every year and everything ends up working out fine!!
