New gardener without a green thumb

So yes...I started a garden. Usually I only plant herbs for the summer, but this year, I felt like venturing out of my comfort zone and grow veggies!

Bill was out of town this weekend so I decided to ust pick up a raised garden instead of waiting for him to come home and build it for me. I got two kits and put them together so i have nearly 11 feet long by i think 3.5! After building it I lugged a ton of dirt and all the veggie compost goodie, and manure.

I had a few veggie plants , and a bunch of seeds. Lots of carrots and radishes! Yum!

I also filled my planters with herbs.... they already look nice!

Here is a planter full of basil!

I was really proud of what I accomplished this weekend!!

Maelie and I also ventured out and decided to plants some seeds in the house.

We decided to start up a few herbs, some peas and beans as well!

Maelie enjoyed pouring the water to get the little peat moss bundles going! and then adding the seeds :)

Cross our fingers something will come up!!

Face off

LOL - Maelie and Peluche facing off.

A visit back home

Last weekend we went back home to visit. We hadn't been in quite a while! Since we were dogsitting, we brought Peluche along with us. He kept us quite busy!! We also drove down 5 baby ducklings. They were hatched at Maelie's school in the grade 1 class. The visit apparently revolved around animals!! I have more animal pictures than people!

Here are some of grand-maman's chickens. They are so cute! They are the ones Maelie chose last year as tiny babies.

Here is a box a ducklings, and a box of chicks that my mom had.

Maelie was holding on to a baby chick.

We gave the ducklings a bath... Peluche wanted nothing more than to make some friends!

Drying off... SO CUTE!

Maelie was hoping to get some swinging time...

Hi Mom!

We had supper at my dad's on Saturday. Of course, Peluche came along. He was VERY excited to see Meggie. He would not leave her alone one second. Here they are both half dead, worn out with their tongues hanging out! Maelie is also exhausted from all that babysitting!

Meggie loves to cuddle with Maelie :)

I didn't even get a pic of my dad and Lucie! I will have to remember next time.

It all went downhill that night as I caught an agressive stomach bug. I was up most of the night. Maelie caught it the next day but it was not as agressive. We hung out in bed and on the couch until the Monday of the long weekend. I was exhausted and have been recuperating all week. My energy levels have not come back up quite yet!

Mother's Day in the tulips!

Every year, my mother's day wish is that Maelie and I go to the tulip festival and I get to  take as many pictures as I want ... with NO COMPLAINING! :) That's the best part!

At first, it wasn't sunny at all... and the tulips were still asleep!

Lots of non-tulip areas to pose in as well!

The sun came out as we were there, so it was still chilly but at least it was sunny!

What is this? Not tulips! Pretty daffodils!

Beautiful!!

Look how pretty this little sleepy tulip is !

We had a wonderful time! I just love spending time with my baby who is growing up so quickly! She is a wonderful daughter who makes her mama proud!

McHappy Day - May 8

As we usually do, Sonia, the kids and I went to McDonald's for McHappy Day. The money collected goes to the Ronald McDonald House and other children's charities. With an illness such as cystic fibrosis, you end up needing all the support you can get from the different charities!

Award & gift

At work, I was the lucky recipient of an award! Outstanding team player ! :) I guess it's becaise I enjoy helping out people so much, and it shows. The award was handed out to me in front of WAY TOO MANY people! I was very embarassed to have to walk up in front of the group. Best part of it? I was brave enough to just be myself and wear my Crocs! LOL This in itself was funny because most of the other recipients were military staff. They don't have the opportunity to wear crocs at work! :)

With this award came a gift! I could choose anything I wanted for a certain dollar amount. I felt it was the perfect opportunity to get a new camera. My old one still worked, but was getting a little finicky.

So I got a Nikon Coolpix. To photographers, this is no big deal. But for me ? It's a gift and I love it.

I played with it a little and got this cute pic of my baby lying down on the couch :)

And here is an adorable pic of Peluche relaxing on the trampoline.

I was really proud to have received an award! Especially since in my job, you don't often get some due to the *nature* of the job. I don't work at the accomplishment of a specific task... I just do day to day saving the world work.  **no I do not save the world... but I help people.**

Clip N Climb

After the Grimpe o thon, Maelie really wanted to go to Clip N Climb to climb some more! So a couple days later, we went. Note that this was on a *good* foot day. We're still dealing with the good and the bad days.

She is so brave!!

Maelie especially likes these green poles. I put the pics together for a step by step...

She has nothing to grip on to once she gets to the final one so this is it! There are really high!!

She was happy with her fun afternoon. :) I am glad she enjoys hanging out with her mama!
