Questionable collage

Maelie made a collage at the daycare. The sitter had them cut out pictures from flyers and glue them on a piece of cardboard. Maelie came home with a rather interesting choice which may require professional help at some point.

When she explained her choices, she said that the chips were for Grand-maman. Because there is not ONE visit at my moms where you don't have 6 bags of chips in the pantry. The chicken nuggets were for her. The cookies and the beer are for Daddy. Oh and the ice cream treats are for her. Now what is a balanced Quebec meal without chips, cookies, ice cream and beer. Thank goodness this doesn't reflect her REAL habits. She DOES eat vegetables... and lots of them too. Including romaine lettuce as a snack before bed. Not sure how to explain that one.

Oh and note to people reading this who are not from Quebec... yes there IS beer in the grocery flyers. They DO sell beer at grocery stores and beer DOES go on sale. :)Bill got used to that one fast enough.

Oh and a note to people IN Quebec... no there is no beer in grocery stores outside of Quebec. Neither is there beer in the flyers and beer does not go on sale.

What cultural diversity!

wanna go for a ride?

Some of you might think I've changed...

"Mom, she looks EXACTLY like you except for the hair color"

wow, explicit means EXPLICIT

This week, Maelie decided she enjoyed "girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne. She heard it on the radio and it is very catchy of course. The song says "Hey, you, i don't like your girlfriend". Maelie said "mom, thats not very nice." so she modified it to "hey you , i like your girlfriend". Bill got a copy on the net and so I didn't think twice when i saw "explicit" on it beside the title. I figured, how bad can it be? well... OH.MY. i was rather shocked by the words in there!!

As we were listening to the song, Maelie says "Mom, this really sounds like Michelle". So there you go Michelle... your sister thinks you sound like Avril Lavigne!

A colleague at work asked me to make her some chocolate. Her daughter has 5 administrative staff and this upcoming week being Administrative Professional weeks, she wanted to give them a little something. So she just trusted me to make something nice. This is what I came up with:

I find them really cute! They are terra cotta pots and they are stuffed with 6 chocolate flower suckers. One of the has Thank you written on it and a bird with flowers. I was really impressed with how they turned out!

So this week, make sure sure you that that administrative person that helps you out all the time!! :) I myself am admin staff and I will make sure i recognize my colleagues. We all work together and make a great team :)

Happy Administrative Professionals Week!!

Who threw up in our yard?

Well... looky looky here... who threw up in our yard?? SUMMER!

What a day. Now, who could actually believe that in exactly 5 days our place could go from this:

to this:

No complaints ! just joy :)

Earlier today I went to Rona to get some sand for the sandbox. Obviously, I had wandered to the wrong end of the store, and being that Rona is about 3 miles long, I had to make my way to the end of the store, hang a left, go outside, walk to the garden centre area and get my sand there. Not a problem. Except that on my journey across the world, I somehow ended up in the home decor area. WHat did I come face to face with? The perfect curtain for my kitchen! I have come to terms with the fact that the 2 inches too short curtains that I had in there now just HAD to go. The new curtains match perfectly with our counters. I rushed home and hung them up right away. It is impossible to take a picture of them right now as it is way too sunny in our back window. But I did put them against the counter for contrast.

Aren't they gorgeous?

Well back outdoors now... Maelie is outside washing her jeep. We are getting our fill of vitamin D today that's for sure!!

oh Mr.Sun

so what do you do when the weather calls for 22 - 23 - 24 degrees??? Get all excited! Take the sunscreen out! Have a pic nic! Get your sandals out! Bike ride and fill the sandbox... yeeee haw!

Those are our plans for the weekend. Nothing but sun sun and sun. Yesterday I opened up some windows and let the warm air in. I LOVE spring. I also saw a daffodil yesterday as I walked from my parking spot to work. I just happen to walk down two streets of a nice old neighborhood where most people take pride in their small spaces and grow a lot of flowers. So every day, I see an extra few flowers blooming here and there. The tulips are on their way to standing really tall... I expect to see a few of them next week.

This morning I was up at 5:30, and it's already starting to lighten up outside at that time. Maelie and Bill and even Chin Chin are still sleeping, lucky them. Then again, they are losing precious sunshine hours!! The sun is bright right now even if the weather is chilly. It is currently 0 but I am sure it won't take long to get to 20 or so...!!

pics to come later on...!

Sunday Funday

Today we went to another birthday party. It seems this blog should be about birthday parties. They mainly all happen around the same time. March, April and May seem to be very popular for birthdays for some reason. I can only justify it as romantic long summer nights? Oh well! Today was Tori's 4th birthday party. What I find remarkable about Tori is that for all the years we have known her (her 2nd, 3rd and 4th bday) she has LOVED Dora the Explorer. I never knew of a childhood idol that lasted so long. I wonder if at age 18 she will still be in awe with Dora. Maybe by them it will be Diego who she will find more appealing. Maelie really enjoyed herself and on her way to the car she said "mom, i LOVED this party!"

This evening, Bill is trying to brainwash Maelie into watching hockey every. single. night. this week. I think not. Right now she is sitting on the floor happily playing with her Little People. The castle you see on the picture is one toy I remember playing with for hours when I was little. and not so little. I secretly played with my friend's brothers' Little People when I visited their house at age 12! I used to call these Little People "les Cocos". To this day I am sad that my mom got rid of them. First of all, I LOVED them and would have loved to pass them on to Maelie instead of buying them at garage sales and second of all, do you know how much these are worth on E-bay?

Definitely a biker chick

This little girl missed her daddy

She liked her cake!

She enjoyed her treasure hunt with her friends!

What a perfect day :)

Friday Outing

This past Friday, I took a day off work. Things have finally stablized enough for me to actually be able to get a day off. So i joined Maelie with her daycare friends at the Children's Museum, The Children's museum is such a wonderful place to visit. It is where children's and grown-ups imagination can go wild!

We stayed for a couple of hours, wore the kids out and then left. I can just imagine that it would be the quietest ride home for most of the kids afterwards. I know Maelie was pooped. Especially considerign she had been going to bed late all week! Daddy has been out of town all week, and Jo came for a visit. So we have been out of our routine for a bit! But I HAVE to say, i love three day work weeks. I would get used to them quite fast actually.

This afternoon, Maelie is having a little birthday party. This one is for the anglophone friends. One guest is already here. She was at Maelie's old daycare and they get along well. It will be interesting to see the kids all together. None of them know each other. Three are from the same family, then one little girl from Maelie's new daycare and one from her old daycare. We have a treasure hunt planned with a real treasure from IKEA.

It's made of fabric and rigid cardboard (i think). The minute I saw it, i saw the potential of having a treasure hunt for Maelie's party.

More to come on our birthday party tomorrow...!

Easter vacation

We just returned from a 4 day getaway to my moms house. The thing that was rather different this holiday is that my mom was not there. She is at my sisters house in PEI babysitting my nephew as my sister is in France! So all in all, we were all at each others house, but no one was seeing anyone. We DID however get to see the baby kittens that Bidute just had. They were less than 2 weeks old.

Easter was also Maelie's official 5th birthday. I still cannot believe I have a 5 year old daughter. Its amazing how time flies. She loved her presents and loves being spoiled of course!!

We got to visit different family members this weekend. Its always nice to spend time with family!

What was surprising when we got to my moms house was the snow! They had just had a snowstorm the day before. We did not have one snowflake left in our yard. Then we come face to face with this:

It's good to be home. Lots of cleaning and tidying to do as usual. Our little chin chin was so happy to see us. She had not been out on 4 days... she probably felt abandoned! We did have someone check up on her. However Jacinthe is deadly afraid of these little critters, so she would not take her out.

Well Happy Easter to all... back to the routine!

Easter eggs!

Beautiful Easter eggs made by Maelie, myself and our neighbor, Caroline.

Note to self: read instructions BEFORE you blow out all the eggs guts of the shells only to find out it requires hard boiled eggs.

play by play adventure of the poop at Walmart

Maelie is on the potty and I am waiting outside the door.

"mom, i will have to take my time, you know why?"
"why?"
"cuz its a REALLY big one"
"oh, ok"
"did you hear that mom? that was a poop coming out *grunt* there's another one coming Mom!"
"good"
"listen! did you hear that *grunt* do you know why i am making that sound?"
"why"
"its really hard to get this poop out. *plop* hey you know what mom? its rabbit poop again. there 2 , no wait, 3."
"good are you done now?"
"yes, uh no wait, theres more. Do you want to see it mom? theres lots now. oh wait *grunt* oh, ok i am done. wipe my butt mom"
"uh, you can do it yourself sweetheart"

And you wonder sometimes why people come out of the washroom laughing.

Maelie's party

This weekend was another very special weekend! First of all, grand-papa and Lucie came for a visit. Maelie was very spoiled once again! She got to go out and choose her birthday present. She decided she wanted a princess dress and make-up and jewelry. We got the dress and the make up but we could not find jewelry so she settled for a princess pillow which she loves!

Here she is in her new birthday princess dress. She wore this today for her birthday party with daycare friends. We had 6 children over. 4 of them being the quietest kids EVER so you would never have known that there were 7 kids in the house! Maelie loved her cake and presents. She said she was so lucky and she loved all her gifts so much that she didn't know what to play with first! Since time was going by so fast, i settled for a store bought pinata which I don't usually get. I prefer making my own, but since i have been so busy at work, I ended up not having time to make it. I will probably work on making one for her next party. So we played parachute, then did the pinata. We came upstairs and make a few crafts and then we had cake. The cake was the same princess ice cream cake that my friend Jacinthe had made for her daughter. I asked her to make one for Maelie. We had a lot of sprinkles for the kids to add on to their ice cream and cupcakes.

Afterwards, we built a house in the living room with Maelies new fort building game and the kids enjoyed themselves. For the last 15 minutes, we opened the presents. I am very glad that Maelie's focus were the friends, and not the presents. She showed appreciation for all the beautiful cards the kids made for her so i was very glad for that. She truly appreciates that someone takes their time to make a card for her. I am very proud of my little... um.... big girl! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG GIRL! :)
