Countdown to Christmas - Day 6

Day 6 started off with a pretty tired, but pretty happy little girl again!

She got some bug shaped silly bands in her advent calendar so she had to put them on immediately. When I look at these, all I can think of is the plastic bracelets that we used to wear when I was young. So funny!

While everyone else seems to be getting some snow... this is the extent of our snow this morning....

This evening, I felt like making some goodies so I whipped up a batch of sucre a la creme ! I can't wait to see if it did turn out... have to wait 'til it chills!

While I was making the recipe, I had live music in the kitchen! It was so sweet!

Countdown to Christmas - Day 5

Day 5 - opening of advent calendar... Maelie in her usual morningwear (not much)!!

Today was out annual chocolate making day with Jacinthe. She came over with her kids and worked on chocolate production from 11 am til almost 5! That's a lot of work!

Naomie came over during the afternoon to play with the girls. Sonia had errands to run so she just dropped her off and picked her up later.

I allowed Maelie to open up once activity present while she was with Naomie so that they could work on a project while I made supper.

Turns out it was Christmas themed sticky mosaics. I love those things!

The girls had a good time!

After supper, Sonia picked up Naomie and off they went. The weekend FLEW by!! This week will be quite busy as we have to work on more Christmas stuff and enjoy more time together! Time has been flying by this month!!

Countdown to Christmas - Day 4

Day 4, wanting to enjoy it as best I can, I was up at 2:30 am today! I kept thinking about the craft I had to work on for the Santa breakfast. I worked on it from 3:30 - 6:30! LOL Maelie was up at about 6:15 and of course showed up in my craft room with her advent calendar item and my camera. She knows she cannot open it without a picture! Smart girl!

Here is a sign she made for the door when you enter my craft room:

Here is a sign she made on the door to the laundry room:

Here is sign that is hanging in my craft room. What a sweetheart I have!!

Once she was a bit more awake, she asked if she could open up an activity present. I obliged... not having an excuse to push it off!

She lined them up all in a row trying to decide which on she would open...

She took the biggest and heaviest.... and was SOOOOO happy when she saw a gingerbread house!!

It was a boxed kit that is rather easy to build.

We followed instructions and worked hard!

Here is how it turned out! LOVELY!

We then headed off to the Santa breakfast at school. Maelie only had a little bit of time to enjoy it as she had bowling today. Here is the craft that I was up so early for! LOL

Maelie also made a little reindeer craft that Natalie had set up.

Tristan worked on it as well.... so cute!

So off we went to bowling and then an errand. The rest of the day was spent relaxing on the couch since i was EXHAUSTED. After my short rest, I cleaned up the kitchen table so I could see what it looked like with my new tablecloth from Winners. I LOVE it!

I also had a chance to take out all my Christmas sprinkles. They are all lined up above my microwave. I LOVE sprinkles!

21 days til Christmas!! All we need is snow.....

Countdown to Christmas - Day 3

Day 3 began very early today!! I was up at 3:30 to get some crafting and other stuff done. It was not intentional... it was just one of those days! Maelie was up at 5 am insisting she had to get up and check her advent calendar.

Immediately after however she resumed this position.

I managed to make 2 caramel-filled wreaths as prizes at my work Christmas party.

We had a teeny-tiny bit of snow when we left for work/school. I was not so excited because I knew it would disappear in a metter of hours! I need at least a foot of snow to be content!

Our work lunch was buffet-style. I HAD to take a pic of my desserts! I am glad I did, they will forever remain in my memory! The coffee tasting layered cake.... to die for!! If I knew this ahead of time, I would have skipped everything else and just had that for lunch!!

When I got home, we had received our first 2 Christmas cards! It's official... no going back.... Christmas is coming!!

After work I stopped at Winners to see if I could find a festive tablecloth. While at Winners, Sonia called and asked if I wanted to go shopping. Very spontaneously, I picked up Maelie, dropped her off at Sonia's and off we went to Orleans to Winners and Homesense. (Thanks Natalie for sharing that coupon!) I was able to finish off a few extra gifts that were needed. Sonia really wanted an item she saw one a craft blog, and it was impossible to find. Then... all the stars aligned themselves in the sky, and she ended up with exactly that item and MANY MANY more! LOL It was pretty funny. We got home way too late considering I wanted Maelie to be in bed by 8. Hopefully it doesn't affect her mood too much on Saturday! I really enjoy last minute plans some days!

Countdown to Christmas - Day 2

Goodness how time flies!! Poor little Maelie goes to bed SO excited for the next day that when it is time to get up, she looks just as tired as when she went to bed!! We need an advent calendar all year round though... this way she won't argue when it is time to get up to go to school!

Today Maelie got cute little reindeer underwear! He favorite type of undies are the boy cut ones from La Senza girl. Tragically enough... La Senza girl is closing ALL their line of clothing after Christmas! (only the girl part... not the LaSenza part). So I will need to stock up on underwear for a couple of years - until she can fit in women's.

Here is a little close up of the pattern.

At lunch time today at work, I sat with Caroline and helped her make a birthday card for one of her friends. I worked on one at the same time. She is very patient when card making that's for sure!

Here was my final product.

After work today, I rushed out to get Maelie at school. Traffic, for ONCE, was really good!! I was amazed that I was able to get to school in just under 30 minutes! I picked up Maelie and headed off to bowling practice. The coach Luc was very patient with her and something CLICKED today for Maelie. She was able to throw the ball much further past the line, thus resulting in many many strikes!! I hope she can remember this on Saturday morning for her game!! The coaches are awesome and they REALLY believe in her! I guess I was so excited I forgot to take a picture! After bowling we had a couple errands to run to prep for the Christmas lunch at my work, and for the craft for Breakfast with Santa at school.

Since I had not taken anymore pics, I took one of Maelie with her activity presents. Already end of Dec. 2 and she has not opened one yet! The activity presents are for the whole month of December and they are mainly little crafty activities. We don't open one unless we have time to sit together and do the activity.

Happy Holidays!!!

Countdown to Christmas - Day 1

.... and so it begins again! Here is Maelie's advent calendar this year. Full of hidden surprises!

As I predicted, the day started quicker than usual. Maelie was up before the alarm clock begging me (or ordering me) to get up so she could open up her first advent surprise!

She just looks SO pooped!! But happy :)

She loved her little surprise today :)

Maelie had made a cute little craft yesterday and it did not fit in our Christmas mailbox... but the flag was up!

Surprise! This was the mail for today.

On Wednesdays at work I hold a card making workshop for a group of ladies. We spread out far and wide on the table ....

There is often a ton of glitter all over the place! Who doesn't LOVE glitter?

This was the card we worked on today!

After work, I headed off to Sonia's house to pick up Maelie. She took her home after school. She invited us for supper since we were out there anyway! It is so nice to not have to make supper! What a deal!! I forgot to take a picture though...

Once we got home, the mailbox flag was up! Maelie quickly checked and there was a note from her daddy! She was pretty happy :)

We will have an early bedtime today since I am pretty sure we will be up bright and early once again! See you on day 2!!
