Music Makers

Yesterday was finally the day that Maelie had been preparing for for a while! The Music Makers! She was part of the choir group at school who performed at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Many schools from the School Board were performing.

This is part of the crowd they were singing to! A lot more people came in after that!

The show started at 7 which is usually our winding down time... so Maelie was really tired and I could see the bags under her eyes when I saw her patiently waiting for the show to start.

Here she is performing! I was so proud of her!

However, she said she would never join choir again! The choir teacher is VERY passionate and perfectionist... a bit too much to Maelie's liking. It did pay off in the long run as the kids were amazing!

Maelie's bowling

Today was Maelie's end of bowling season party. She was ecstatic to receive a plaque, and 2 trophees! She had a trophee for the highest average! She was SO happy! This was her dream!

The trophee was for the highest team in the second half of the year.

They got another participation trophee which was pretty cute.

At the end, each child got a beach towel with their name on it! So cute!!

The coaches were amazing all year and Don the owner of the bowling alley is a kind hearted, family oriented, generous, loving man!! I am so proud to take Maelie to Salle de quilles le carrefour!

desparate need of another weekend!!

Our Sunday was very fun but busy! We started off our day playing at the park with Natalie and the kids, and then coming home to jump on the trampoline.

I LOVE this shot of Maelie!! Looks like she could have a magic carpet!

After having fun with our friends, we had to get ready for Maelie's end of year bowling party! Here is a pic of all the different levels and all the kids that were there!

We had a fun time! I will have a whole post up about the party!

Surprise Saturday!

This morning we left home at 7:30 to pick up Natalie. We were on a mission!! Many garage sales! We spent almost 5 hours out and about... but then we had a surprise bday brunch for Natalie's mom! Our good friend Line was nice enough to invite us all over to her house! I love her neighborhood... such nice mature trees and houses that look like my grandma's neighborhood.

Maelie is ALWAYS ready for a party!!

I think we had enough food for our little group!! Tons left over as usual!

The cake was amazing!! Maelie ate the angel cake but not the strawberries! Yum Yum!

After this party I thought we had Maelie's end of year bowling party. So we hurried there, thinking we were a bit late... well... turns out THAT party is tomorrow!! I felt a bit silly!!

We were happy to head home anyway... especially because I got a trampoline this morning at a yard sale for 30$. It is in good shape. The man said it was about 8 feet. Turns out... to our surprise... it's about 12 feet! Our backyard cannot handle that very well! But Bill managed to squeeze it in! Of course our yard is not one that will be in a magazine EVER because it is excessively PACKED with a pool, a trampoline and a swing set. LOL You could basically hop from the trampoline into the pool!

Someone was getting anxious for daddy to set it up!!!

Here she is enjoying her new toy! She has thanked us 5 million times at least!

Here she is poor exhausted baby!! I must say though.... Bill is a bit more exhausted than her!

Welcome to my home!

This is a gift I received today for Mother's Day.... Welcome to my home!!

(it's a welcome mat of you can't tell from the angle of the picture!)

I LOVE it!! it is SO me!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!! But especially... MY MOM! She gave birth to me and raised me to be who I am. I appreciate everything she has done for me throughout my life. She is truly the best mom for me.

Thanks also to Bills mom... She gave birth to Bill and raised him and she made it alive and well! Which believe me... it was a real challenge LOL I appreciate that she had such patience and love!

My day started off with my little baby girl Maelie. She made a big card for me and included an area for me to make my menu choices for the day!!

She also gave me some letters that she secretly bought and decorated. I proudly stuck them on my crafting cupboard.... she is the one who made me a happy mom!

I also received flowers Friday from our family friend, and "adoptive" sister Linda, and some from Maelie and Bill today. They all blended well together!

We went out and Maelie got me a Tim Horton's coffee. She paid for it herself! How cute! We had McDonald's for lunch!

This afternoon we spent some time with Natalie and the boys. The kids play SOOO well together that it gives us time to craft!! We both enjoy crafting so much so it is a blessing that our kids play peacefully allowing us to truly enjoy our hobby.

They enjoyed dressing up this afternoon.

Natalie and I worked on something special that she is bringing to Merrick's class for his birthday tomorrow. I can't wait to see how she finishes it!!

I had a wonderful Mother's day! Getting to spend the day doing stuff I enjoy is truly what Mother's day is all about!! It is certainly not about expensive jewelry or gifts or spa days for me... It is spending the day surrounded by friends and family that I love, and doing what I enjoy!! Now if only there was time left in my day for a nice hot bath, reading a magazine! But I have to get to bed... I am starting a new job tomorrow!

Mother's Day weekend

We had planned to go visit my mom and grandma on Saturday and Sunday for Mother's Day, however Maelie was invited to a birthday party on Saturday afternoon at the Midway. Since these birthday parties come once a year for the kids, I really wanted her to attend (and she did too!). So we moved our Mother's Day plans ahead. We left Thursday around lunchtime and stayed until Saturday morning.

Our drive there looked like this:

Once we got on the 640 highway... WHOA! Hail was sent to us from the sky!! A lot of people stopped by the side of the road. I was going really slow, but figured as long as I could see the lines, I could keep going. Maelie slept through it!!

As usual, our visits back home involve a lot of pets!! Mornings at my moms look a bit like this:

Kittens

Chickens (and geese who were not in the pictures)

and rock throwing in the river

Tons of buttons to sort!

How could you not LOVE this little face? This kitten is now living with friends of ours close to our place! He drove back with us to his new home.

We then went to my dads place. He has a little dog who is very happy to have company! She just hangs out with Maelie ALL THE TIME!

<

Maelie wore the poor Meggie out!!

Of course we had a wonderful supper : spaghetti! My dad's sauce is the best in the world and that is always my special request when I visit!

Saturday morning, we were up at the crack of dawn. I was woken up with a kitten in my face! LOL We had breakfast with my mom and then headed back home with the kitten. He made a little girl VERY VERY VERY happy!!

We made it on time to relax a bit and then head off to a birthday party for a boy in Maelie's class.

At the Midway, it is SO organized. They have everything timed, and the guide you have with your group follows the kids around and does everything for two hours. The service was amazing. The girls caring for the group was 15 years old and she did an AMAZING job keeping all the kids busy for the whole time. At first I thought for sure she must have been a university student who studied to work with kids and did this on the side! I was shocked to hear she was 15!

Maelie got a little cheek painting. The birthday child is the only one that gets the whole face painted.

The kids played in the play structure, then did rock climbing:

Then headed to to go-karts:

And to the table for food and cake!

There was the official group picture before the gift opening:

and at the end, the kids are let loose in the arcade area to play with 20 tokens. This is always Maelie's favorite part! She would play these games ALLL day if she could!!

After the party, we went to East Side Mario's for a Mother's Day meal with Bill. Maelie and I shopped a tiny bit for summer clothes at the Children's place before heading home!

We were both insanely pooped by that time!!

We now have a whole day left before the weekend is officially over. Yay!!
