what a day!

This morning, Maelie and I decided it would be fun to go to Little Ray's Reptile zoo. We had been last on Canada Day but having a baby and toddler in tow, we couldn't stay super long. Today, we had a MAJOR treat!! Little Ray himself took over some of the presentations! We got to see and touch so many things and he shared SO much knowledge with us it was AWESOME!

All the staff there is fantastic. They are all knowledgable and motivated when they do the hands-on and the feedings. But there is something about Little Ray! The extra passion he has when he talks about his reptiles!

Maelie was VERY excited to touch the tarantula!! She would have put it in her pocket and taken it home if she could!

Next up was a cute little gecko. Apparently when a predator gets him, he drops his tail. The tail keeps on moving so the predator thinks he caught his prey... meanwhile the gecko runs away.

This big tortoise was so cute!

Of course everyone love Ally the alligator! She is very tame.

No one could resist touching this guy!!

We went outside and saw some turtles. They were all hiding in the shade since it was SO hot!

This one was not part of the zoo! A cute grasshopper! Maelie was a bit nervous going after him cuz he was SO fast! Jumping all over...

Somehow, he ended up ON her!

For the feeding show, we got to see a chameleon. Did you know that chameleons don't really change colors to blend with their habitat? They are green, and they live in the trees, so they just need to be green. When they change colors, they are communicating with other chameleons. A bit like a mood ring I guess!

These guys are BRAND new baby snakes! They are just a couple days old!! I forgot to take a picture of the eggs they came out of. It was pretty spectacular.

Little Ray wanted to show us how a snake eats! He explained a lot about their jaw. Very interesting! Maelie couldn't get close enough to the snake!! She was less than a feet away and would have loved to get closer.

Pardon my grossness, but the snake only had the rat tail sticking out of his mouth at this point!!

Once little Ray was done showing us the snake eating the rat, we went to see the crocodiles jump for their food. It's amazing being right there in the window! Maelie only had a piece of glass between her and the crocs.

After this, he took us outside and let us feed the turtles. Only one warning... the turtle doesn't know where the veggie ends and the fingers begin.

We were having so much fun we would have stayed all day! But Maelie had a birthday party to go to. Her classmate Mathieu invited her to go to the Museum of Aviation! From what I hear, it was a GREAT group and a GREAT party! While I was waiting, I went and picked up some new Crocs as my other ones were worn out!

What a day!!!

Despicable me!

Maelie and I went to see Despicable me with Natalie, Myran and Merrick. They had been dying to see it!!

We of course had to load up on snacks. Thanks to Natalie who had coupons, we managed to get free drinks too!

It was a very cute & light movie. The kids were pretty quiet throughout he movie! Lots of fun!

Finally! some rain!

Today the heat peaked at 36 degrees.... 42 with the humidex factor. Maelie got up at 10 am!! and then she swam and swam and swam allllll day! After supper, she swam again! Then... thunder got rolling. She stayed in the pool for the thunder, but then when we saw a bit of lightning, she came out.

Maelie and Tristan watched the rain ... it feels a bit cooler now out there! Hopefully it will stay below 30 now for a while!

my awesome hot tub

To say that it is hot is the understatement of the year! It was 34 again today, and the pool went up to 92! That's the first time I have ever seen this.

When I got home from work, Maelie called Tristan to come and swim.

They were trying to make current at one point but they were going really slow since the water was so hot! It wasn't as refreshing as when it is in the 70's.

They also played "wipeout" as Maelie calls it. That's when they try to go as far as they can in the pool on a big ball. It seems to be the popular game at our house these days!

weekday hot bliss

Maelie went to our friend Sonia's house yesterday with Natalie and the boys while I was at work. Lucky them!! They are all off this summer and I am the only one who has to work. I do feel like I will be missing out on a lot of activities with them. But at least they were kind enough to invite me to meet up with them after work and stay for supper and take Maelie home.

Maelie was ecstatic as Sonia's house is in the country on a beautiful lot. She had a blast!

Here are all the kids eating together.

Before we left, Sonia took Maelie out to see the horses. We of course had to leave earlier because I had to work today.

Thanks for such a wonderful day Sonia & Natalie.

a visit with grand-papa and Lucie

Today, grand-papa and Lucie drove to town for a visit. They were heading off to Mont St-Sauveur with Lucie's brother and sister in law, so they decided to leave a day early and come to see us. How fun!! :)

It was a GORGEOUS day today, 34 degrees and sunny. The weather called for thunder storms, however we got about 6 drops of rain and then it returned to blue skies! Maelie was ecstatic that they joined her in the pool!

Maelie had a great time!! I like to think that our visitors did too! The pics kinda say it all!

We ended up going to Boston Pizza for supper. Yum!

Once back home, Maelie sat down and watched wrestling with Bill. She bought herself a wrestling ring. She sets it up when they watch wrestling and sets up her players on the ropes! It's pretty cute! Not girly... but cute anyway!! :)

I am really glad that my dad went out of his way for a visit! He is not a traveller at all so it is wonderful to be able to see him in our home!

Now off to bed.... tomorrow will be here soon enough!!

Sunny Sunday

Today as the weather was going up in the 30's, I suggested to Maelie that we go out and find a new pool toy since Natalie and the boys were coming. We got this ginormous sombrero!

It was hard to get up! We tried to keep them sitting down on it as if the toy bumped on the side of the pool, a kid could easily fall out! Not the ideal toy for an above ground pool!! but fun nonetheless.

I took out a few packs of pop rocks I had around the house. The kids seemed to enjoy that! Maelie put them all in, but then proceeded to spitting them out in the garbage. She doesn't like most candy, but she just wanted the popping sensation!

Myran on the other hand was eating them one pop rock at a time! hehe so cute!

They relaxed again while coloring on the trampoline. It looks so comfy laying there with not a worry in the world!

As I was tidying up in the evening, Maelie took out her nerf guns and she and Bill tried to him the bullseye on her chalkboard!

I don't know who came this close but it was almost in! :)

more company on the horizon or Monday....
3 clues as to who it may be:

1- they come but once a year
2- usually it is in or around the beginning of April
3- they look at the pics on my blog regularly

any guesses? (unless i told you already!!)
