We had planned to go visit my mom and grandma on Saturday and Sunday for Mother's Day, however Maelie was invited to a birthday party on Saturday afternoon at the Midway. Since these birthday parties come once a year for the kids, I really wanted her to attend (and she did too!). So we moved our Mother's Day plans ahead. We left Thursday around lunchtime and stayed until Saturday morning.
Our drive there looked like this:

Once we got on the 640 highway... WHOA! Hail was sent to us from the sky!! A lot of people stopped by the side of the road. I was going really slow, but figured as long as I could see the lines, I could keep going. Maelie slept through it!!
As usual, our visits back home involve a lot of pets!! Mornings at my moms look a bit like this:
Kittens

Chickens (and geese who were not in the pictures)

and rock throwing in the river

Tons of buttons to sort!

How could you not LOVE this little face? This kitten is now living with friends of ours close to our place! He drove back with us to his new home.

We then went to my dads place. He has a little dog who is very happy to have company! She just hangs out with Maelie ALL THE TIME!

Maelie wore the poor Meggie out!!

Of course we had a wonderful supper : spaghetti! My dad's sauce is the best in the world and that is always my special request when I visit!

Saturday morning, we were up at the crack of dawn. I was woken up with a kitten in my face! LOL We had breakfast with my mom and then headed back home with the kitten. He made a little girl VERY VERY VERY happy!!

We made it on time to relax a bit and then head off to a birthday party for a boy in Maelie's class.
At the Midway, it is SO organized. They have everything timed, and the guide you have with your group follows the kids around and does everything for two hours. The service was amazing. The girls caring for the group was 15 years old and she did an AMAZING job keeping all the kids busy for the whole time. At first I thought for sure she must have been a university student who studied to work with kids and did this on the side! I was shocked to hear she was 15!
Maelie got a little cheek painting. The birthday child is the only one that gets the whole face painted.

The kids played in the play structure, then did rock climbing:

Then headed to to go-karts:

And to the table for food and cake!

There was the official group picture before the gift opening:

and at the end, the kids are let loose in the arcade area to play with 20 tokens. This is always Maelie's favorite part! She would play these games ALLL day if she could!!

After the party, we went to East Side Mario's for a Mother's Day meal with Bill. Maelie and I shopped a tiny bit for summer clothes at the Children's place before heading home!
We were both insanely pooped by that time!!
We now have a whole day left before the weekend is officially over. Yay!!
