How memories are made

This week has been flying by! Lisa was visiting, Maelie in school and Bill and I at work. Lisa visited museums and other places on her own during the day. In the evening, we had supper and spent time together playing DDR, Monopoly and going out for ice cream. By the time Friday came, I had the afternoon off and took the time to go redeem a gift certificate I received at Christmas for a manicure and pedicure. Since I have no nails, I got a pedicure and Lisa and Maelie got a manicure. It was sweet to share this with them!!

Here are Maelie's nails:

Her thumbs got special treatment:

Here are Lisa's nails:

and here are my toes:

As we drove away, we passed in front of Isobel's Cakes and Cookies. I have always been meaning to stop there to check it out... so what better time than NOW?

What good looking cupcakes!

Maelie is not too keen on cake, so she decided to get a cookie! So many beautiful choices!

Not sure what happened to my cupcake....!! There's a missing piece!

For a late lunch, we brought Lisa to The Works! YUMMMMMMMM. It seems everyone someone visits us, we HAVE to take them there. So far, no one has been disappointed!!

Here are the two sisters posing :) Youngest and oldest. We SO wish Michelle was here too!!

After our late lunch, we ended up at Chapters because apparently all three of us share a love for that store. Maelie not so much for the books, but for the kids section. Once we were done, we headed off to "heaven" for Lisa.... T&T Supermarket. We spent over an hour walking up and down the aisles learning a lot of interesting things that Lisa shared with us!

At the supermarket, I picked up a pack of chop sticks as Maelie really wanted Lisa to teach her how to eat with them. Lisa is very good at teaching and showed much excitement when Maelie was getting it!

Maelie was determined and would not give up until she was ablt to pick some things up and deliver them to her mouth!!

We had so many precious moments during our day! Maelie is ecstatic to be able to spend so much time with her older sister. I love seeing them together!

Happy Easter!!

Yesterday, we decided to decorate a few eggs for Easter...

Lisa participated too! :) Maelie was so happy!

Here are our results!

I baked some little festive cupcakes, so cute!

This is Maelie this morning who was up at 4:40 ready to hunt for eggs....!! She tripped in the steps and said it was my fault because I put the egg there. Note... the egg was way at the end in between the two bars! You would actually have to try REALLY hard to trip on the egg! hahahahah

Maelie and Lisa each had a different picture to hunt for at the same time as the eggs. Maelie had 12 rabbits to find, and Lisa 12 Happy Easter signs. If they found all 12, they could get the 12 little prizes! We also had 40 eggs to find. We have one missing one!

After all the running around the girls sat down with their loot to check it all out!

Here are the little carrot cone boxes. They are so cute!

I also had made little tiny pastel baskets which contained a few eggs and scratchie tickets!

Her is all of Maelie's stuff!

Afterwards, I made some yummy waffles for breakfast....

I made them a bit festive by adding pastel food coloring to the dough. It made them even better! hahaha

Happy Easter to all! Enjoy time together!

out and about with Lisa

We are extremely happy that we have Lisa visiting us for almost two weeks!! We had not seen her in 5 years! Lisa has been working in Japan and just returned for a little while.

Maelie us of course off her rocker with excitement! She adores her sisters sooooooo much even if she has not spent so much time with them in her 9 years.

She worked hard on a little Easter surprise for Lisa. Hand made chocolates she made by herself.

This is a treat Lisa brought back for me.... i LOVE the look of these candies and they shall remain uneaten because they are way too beautiful!

Good Friday mostly everything was closed in Ottawa but the Byward Market was open for business as usual! We went for about an hour and wandered around. It was a gorgeous day! We had not seen nice weather all week!

Look at these gorgeous cookies!! i SOOOOOOOO wish I had that talent!

In the evening, we went to see Rio.... what a cute, adorable, colorful movie! It was soooooo sweet! Great family film ! :) I love birds, so I was touched by the beauty of them all ! even if they were just animated!

Peluche!

Here's Peluche, completely exhausted because I woke him up too early this morning....!!

Quite the indecent exposure if you ask me!!
Peluche, did you not realize that I put pictures of you on my blog???

a week in review

This week was the Music Maker's concert at the Civilization Museum. Maelie was part of it before but she didn't want to be in the choir this year. However, some of her classmates were and Naomie was as well so Maelie really wanted to go watch them. We had 3rd row seats this year thanks to Naomie's family who saved us some seats!

Here are the two best friends :)

Thursday Maelie had a day off and it was the student-led conference at her school.

The teacher had prepared them well! They were very organized in what they had to do and say.

Maelie was pretty good with the time...

and with the money especially! haha

She played a bit of recorder and that was it :) She is doing well. I would say the thing she seems to have a bit if issues with sometimes is just trying to get through her work fast and not "paying enough attention". On some assignments, she gets questions wrong just because she went to fast and skipped some or saw plusses when the question was minuses. So it's just the lack of attention to detail.

Friday afternoon Maelie wanted to go shopping with her birthday money and gift cards. We started shopping at 1:30 pm and her first item bought was at 7 pm. It's very very hard for her to spend her own money!!

She decidd to use her Ardene gift cards to get her ears pierced once again! The last holes had closed in after an infection. We bought some EMLA cream at the pharmacy. It freezes the ears.

She did great! and she loves her cute new earrings!

Peluche, will you just LOOK at the camera??

I tried to get a picture of Peluche looking at me. He has this *STARE* that just ccmmunicates so much!

He

just

wouldn't

look

straight

at

me!

except when I bugged him while he was sleeping!

Maelie's 9th party at Little Ray's!

What a day!! Today was Maelie's party with her friends. We went to little Ray's Reptile Zoo. It was FABULOUS! I cannot give enough credit to the staff that work there, they are truly amazing. Our hostess, Andree, was awesome. She kept the kids captivated and they just were SO well behaved!

Here is one of the tables. Maria and Ingvild were a great help! They set up and cleaned up which was super awesome!

Maelie was the lucky girl and got to do everthing first since it was her birthday! Here are a few of the things she got to touch.... everyone got to touch then as well.

Some were not too keen about getting the black rat snake around their neck... but Maelie was so happy about it!

As the birthday girl, she even got to hold the albino python.... it is VERY heavy!

It was pretty exciting...!

After touching all of these little amazing reptiles, we washed up and then had pizza and cupcakes. We all sang happy birthday to Maelie.

Everyone was eating and chatting!

It was time for the gifts! Maelie always gets a bit shy at that part. All the kids sat and looked at her!

Here she is with Naomie... happy girls!!

I always have to get a group shot!!

and especially a silly face group shot!!

We gathered around and had a feeding show. Here is the same black snake Maelie was wearing earlier... it was eating a dead mouse.

This little guy was way too cute! He got bright green when he was being fed... that means he is very happy!

Here were the Caimans...all piling up again to get close to the heat lamps....it can't be comfortable!

Our hostess went in and fed the ones that were in the water. It was amazing!

Once back home, the kids just had a few minutes to play and dance. The parents arrived shortly and the kids went home with their goodie bags. They are always happy about that!!

Here is Maelie wearing her jelly rattlesnake! I found these at the Bulk Barn... so appropriate for this party!

It's amazing how quickly it all went by... I cannot believe it is over already! Mama gets to rest now!! How nice it would be to sleep in a bit tomorrow instead of waking up at 3:30!! I can now rest until Maelie's Halloween party! hahahaha
