Day number 16! Maelie's box was already popping open! What a coincidence... she was all dressed up and ready to go to school... but she didn't have socks on! There were Joshua Perets socks in her box! She put them on right away and we headed off to work and school. I got Maelie to shower and get dressed this morning before the advent calendar.
What to my wondering eyes should appear? Tasty little Godiva truffles for breakfast! OOOOOOh la la! Thank you Lisa!
At work, it's not unusual for me to have a swarm of people at my desk asking for something or needing help. That's what I do best. But suddenyl today, to my right popped up some people, then to my left, until I had my card making ladies ALL around me!!! They presented me with a gift to thank me for the card making workshops we did throughout the year! OH MY! I was SO shy and nervous! I don't like when the attention is on me. They had wrapped the present in a few layers, and I had to open it with oven mitts! We had a laugh!! I had NO CLUE what it could be!! It turned out to be this LOVELY crafting suitcase on wheels!! I guess they are tired of seeing me come to work with my gazillion bags of craft stuff! I always wanted to buy myself one of these, but there was always something else i *needed*. :) All I can say is WOW...I am flattered and honored!
Maelie and I had a grown up surprise 40th birthday party to attend!! I was not going to stay long and Maelie adores Nicole, who the party was for. So we headed off to the hotel at the casino. This guy greeted us at the door!

We were all in a huge sweet at the hotel, and Nicole showed up. Her mom had even flown in from out west to be at the party! Nicole was crying when she saw her mama... :) It was SO touching!!
On the way home, Maelie said "mom, why isn't Nicole married?"
I responded "well I guess maybe she didn't find the right one yet"
Maelie added "Well mom, it's kind of too late now. She's 40! She'll never find the right one."
ah... the bluntness and innocence of a 9 year old :) Gotta love it!!
