off to winter we go!

This is not quite what we expected on Halloween....

1st part of the snowman.... (other parts coming when there is more snow!!)

It's melting rather fast, but Maelie did have time to go make a snow angel or two!

Happy Halloween!

Maelie's 3rd annual Halloween party!

The day finally came! After weeks of preparation, the Halloween party was here!! Here is my kitchen area all ready for the hungry kids!

Here are the cupcakes

and just a few trays of food. I can't believe I didn't take a close up of every dish I had prepared!! I guess I was busy!

Maelie couldn't wait for her friends to arrive. When they finally were all here, I took a group picture as usual:

We started off with a few games. The first game, they had to put vaseline on their chin and try to pick up as many little spiders and flies without using their hands. It was pretty funny!

Next, I had a bunch of cans and they had to try and throw the eyeballs inside the cans. The eyeballs were very very light so it was really hard to get them to stay in!

After this game, we sat down to eat! The kids all loved the food on the table!

This is the Creepy crawly salad I made. I kept it plain in case some kids didn't like having things in it. It was surprisingly a big hit! The kids who are usually the pickier eaters ate the most!

Maelie adored it!

After supper, we played the left - right game. The kids sat in a circle and i gave a gift to one person. When I read the story, every time i said RIGHT the present had to go to the right and any time i said LEFT, the present had to go to the left. The last person with the gift got to open it! Inside were 12 test tubes with magic powder for a magic potion.

We went back to the kitchen table and followed the recipe to make the potion!! Turns out it was SLIME! The kids LOVED it. Only two of the kids didn't actually touch it. They stirred it with a spoon and I tranferred it to their sealed container to take home.

It was really awesome seeing them stretch it so much and have a blast!

After the goo, we headed off downstairs for the pinata! Year after year they are getting stronger! So just keeping the pinata on the string is hard!

Some of the kids played with some gooey eyeballs. After the pinata the kids spread out a bit between rooms in the house so it was not too jam packed.

So now that the party was over .... this is what we found outside!!

What a better way to celebrate Halloween than with snow and hot chocolate!!

Mummy love

Finally... all the hard work on the mummy costume and it is done! Maelie was so happy. I see lots of issues with it, mainly because the fabric was not stretchy, but all in all, what counts is that Maelie is happy!!

Blackberry pictures

Today I uploaded the pics I had taken with my Blackberry. Here are a couple cute ones from the past weeks!

This is a picture of the Rideau Canal. Not bad taken with a Blackberry!

A pic at Sonia's house when I picked up Maelie and Tristan. I liked her decor so I told the kids to pose.

This was one day this month when we stopped by Party Packagers in search of purple hair for Sonia.

Village Fantome

Here are the girls ready to go! We were off to Village fantome in Cantley this evening. We were right on time to meet up with Natalie and her family however, we missed the street because we were all looking at a ranch on our right and missed the sign! So we ended up there later than them unfortunately.

We didn't really know what to expect because it was our first time. When we walked by the people counters ... they were over 4400 people before us!! and i am sure they had a ton more behind us because the line was just as long when we left as when we arrived! It was insane!

There were many themed decors, including a mummy.

So many nice decors!

So many people too!!

Scary girl!! (lots of soap needed tonight!!!)

I am glad we got to experience the Village fantome 2010!!

First tiny bit of snow

Maelie was excited to look out the window and see this this morning!

She immediately ran to get her shoes and jacket to go out and touch it!

Hurray!!

She decided to jump on the trampoline a little since it wasn't frozen yet...

I am sure this white stuff will get old soon! and we will be wishing for spring...!

original sandwich

Maelie decided that her snack was going to be a toast, not popped. In this family, this means a piece of bread. She decided to try it with three toppings... a row of jam, a row of peanut butter and a row of cheese whiz.

Yum!!

Thanksgiving

Wow! how fast this weekend flew by!! I barely even remembered it was Thanksgiving! People is this province do not really celebrate Thanksgiving... so when everything is open for business as usual, it is hard to stop and remember that it is a holiday!

We had my mom and her friend Linda come over this weekend for a short visit.

We visited friends, and went shopping at Spirit (Halloween store). What an amazing store!!

We love this guy who crawls to grab you!

Maelie really likes when grand-maman joins her on the trampoline. Grand-maman thinks she is on there for a nap... well Maelie has other plans!!

Today all was back to normal. Our guests went home, I went to work, Maelie went to school. After school, Maelie headed off to Naomie's house. When I got there to pick her up... surprise surprise... she was going horseback riding!

Of course she got some help from Ingvild... we don't want her to get too too wild.

Here are Naomie and Maelie trotting along...

Of course, Maelie now wants a horse! Thanks Sonia!!

Halloween decor going up!!

I stopped at the "centre du party" yesterday to pick up helium balloons for the party we went to, but then i saw these!!! i fell in love with them immediately!! I hung them above my kitchen table. It looks AMAZING!!!

As every year, a must-have are the curtains i put up in my kitchen....

and the curtains i put up at my front door...

This year I added a witch on her broom flying up our stairs....

and a small haunted house on top of our computer desk.

It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween in here!! :)
I am definitely in the mood!!
