Pet please

Yesterday, Natalie and the kids and I headed off to yard sales. I do not get much at yard sales as I am trying to not clutter up my house even more... however I do find the occasional treasure.

My pet please yesterday was these little jars. As soon as I got home, I washed them. Later on in the evening... I filled them up. Looking at these just makes my heart sing!!

Class trip

Thursday was the event kids wait for all year... the end of year class trip! This year Maelie's class was going to Omega Park. We have been many times, however never on a school bus. The kids were very excited! It was a one hour drive to get there but they were pretty good on the bus. It helped that it was really cool in the bus after the scorching heat we had had for days!

I thought this shot was funny... kinda like bus vs beast. He was waiting for us...

I was hoping I wouldn't drop my camera out the window!!

There weren't as many wapiti out as usual, but since it was been so hot, they were probably in the forest hiding. Here, one dude was in the water freshening up!

Once we got half way through, we stopped for lunch in the pic nic area. Here is Maelie and her closest friends.

Posing with her lunch on a log!

After lunch we went through the forest for a walk in hopes of seeing deer. We had seen a couple as we were eating. I guess when the big group stampeded through the forest, they hid! We did end up at a sugar shack and had a group picture on the logs.

Maelie ended up just relaxing home all evening as she was pooped!!

All in all it was really fun and the kids seemed to be happy! I guess it beats sitting in the classroom working!

Once home, Maelie and Tristan hopped in the pool to cool down!

Another hot day!

Today was Wednesday, but for me it was Friday! I had tomorrow and Friday off! woo hoo! Of course, tomorrow may not be so restful because it is Maelie's class trip! I am going to be on a hot bus for 1 hour with about 50 2nd graders! What was I thinking!!

On my way home from work today, I drove right by an accident. A light had fallen right on top of the front of a car! It had just happened when I passed the first time. I looked out of curiosity and I saw, in the car, one of the commissionaires that worked in my building at my old job! I pray that she is ok!!

Maelie and I were invited for supper at Natalie's house, so on the way there, we passed by the accident at another angle and I took pictures. They had moved the lights off the car at that point.

Once at Natalie's house, the kids hopped in the pool again while I worked on a project! Natalie made us some extra tasty burgers on the grill!!

As soon as they were done eating, they hopped in the pool again for a couple hours! I am sure Maelie will be sleeping very well tonight!!

trying to stretch it out!!

Yesterday I had to go to work. It was such a BEAUTIFUL day! So when I got home I decided to act as if it was still the long weekend.

We got home and hopped in the pool! Afterwards, we had some supper and then headed off to Natalie's to swim some more.

Here is little munchkin having a blast! Yet note the VERY tired look!! Ste stayed in the pool from 6 to 8:30!!

This is the shot I got on the way home to bed.... promising us another beautiful day.

end of long weekend...

Yesterday marked the end of the long weekend. How sad! I feel like it flew by....

Maelie, grand-maman and i packed up for our holiday Monday and went to Rockland... I saw an ad on kijiji that they were having a huge yard sale in the grocery store parking lot. When we arrived and sawy the hundreds or thousands of people, we figured we hit the jackpot.

I asked Maelie to pose so I could get a picture idea of 1/25th of the sale!! We just walked around (in the HEAT) to check it all out. We found really good deals on stuff. I wasn't able to look really indepth every area because Maelie was dying of heat.

I must say, this was my best deal!! My mom bought herself an almost new sewing machine for 20$ and I asked her to bargain for these magazines. She got them for FREE!! They are all different scrapbooking magazines where I can find many different ideas!! Natalie came over later on and we sat on the deck going through them.

Maelie and grand-maman relaxed on the trampoline crafting butterflies! I hear these may become fridge magnets!

Maelie wanted me to pose her while she was jumping in the pool. She has different names for her techniques.

I find this one looks a bit like the same jump as her trampoline one from last week!

My mom was dying to know how to make these paper roses so Natalie walked her through it. Needless to say, by the end of the evening, she had punch out MANY MANY of the shapes she needs to make them so she can work on those at home.

My mom insisted we make a cream cheese hedgehog! I think we did a fine job !

Once it hit 8 pm, it was time for family game night. Maelie LOVES those evenings with a passion. We play Carnival games together on the Wii... It was a lot of fun!!

We went to bed WAY too late as we didn't want our long weekend to end!
It's supposed to be a very hot week and so I can see us wanting to enjoy it fully!

I am incredibly blessed being surrounded by wonderful family and friends, from near and from far! :)

Sunday Funday

Sunday was fillllled with fun!! I cannot even express how much I love this season where we try our old activities again, and new ones of course. Year after year we have a few things we look forward to such as the water parks and snail picking at a park close by.

Our day started off trying to cool down the kids! It was so hot and humid, so Natalie, Merrick and Myran came over. Within 2 seconds everyone under 5 feet tall was in the pool. Us grown ups crafted on the deck while watching them swim.

After a lot of swimming, they had a bit of lunch with a Slush Puppy and swam some more.

To warm up their little bodies, they settled on the trampoline and colored. This is the only time I allow more than one person on the trampoline at a time! When they don't move!

They went back anf forth in the pool until.... Grand-Maman arrived! Everyone was excited. Merrick and Myran had never met grand-maman before but of course they were curious because it is someone new! We didn't give her more than 5 minutes to relax, we headed off to the park close by to enjoy snail hunting and the water park.

The kids had a great time. Grand-maman made up stories about the snails and made the kids laugh.

The water was pretty cold... but the kids tried to get the buckets of water on their heads!!

Note that there IS a child here... we just don't see him because the water splasehed on his head!

Afterwards, we headed back home, had supper and then passed out!

ooooh la la!

Our morning started off really really early. I was up shortly before 5 (for no good reason!). By 7:15 we were on the road to pick up Natalie and Michael for a bit of yard saling! The weather was iffy but we risked it.

At one of the yard sales, Maelie found a caterpillar wandering through the stuff. So she adopted it and took it along!!

On our way home, poor Maelie passed out! Of course the caterpillar decided to run away! WHen she woke up about half an hour later, we needed to hunt all over the car to find it! We found him and she let him loose in our yard.

Once home, Maelie was VERY excited to jump in the pool! First time this year! Thankfully, the rain storm disappeared and out came the sun!

She was soooo happy! Just like a little fish finding water after a long winter!

I don't know how she does it when it is only at 71 degrees... but she is having a GREAT time!!

Almost time!

It's almost time to hop it! Maelie is SOOOO looking forward to it!

What I am especially looking forward to is to this contraption to work!! See that black hose? Well it's supposed to warm up the water before circulating it back in the pool. Our neighbors across the street have this set up and they are usually 4 degrees higher than us. Let's hope it works! Cuz I am especially wimpy in my old age when it comes to cold water !!

Our tiny backyard will now be full of entertainment for Maelie! She will not want to leave the house!

Sunny beginning of long weekend!

Wow, if today was any indication as to what our weekend will look like, I need to book a vacation !

Today was our first trip of the year to Lac Beauchamp. It is so much fun even if we don't know what is hiding in that water!! We headed off there with Natalie, Merrick and Myran, lots of pails and nets in tow. At first Merrick and Myran found it SOOOOO gross, but with Maelie's go get it attitude towards the swampy water... they eventually broke down and hunted too!!

I love pictures of Maelie through the tall grass! She was VERY busy so I didn't get many pics where she was actually looking at me! As you will see... it is full of action shots!

It was a big deal every time one of them got something!

She found a HUGE tadpole that had actually grown legs! So it will soon be a frog!

More action shots!

After about 2 hours of hunting for all kinds of stuff, and finding tadpoles, fish, snails, even a snake (a grown up caught him) and some type of crab (again, a grown up caught that one)... they decided to just run and swim!

Oh, and of course, rolling around in the sand is always one of Maelie's favorites! She got quite itchy after this!!

Once full of sand she took off and ran to the water to rinse off! This was only our first time this year but I am sure we will be spending more time there throughout the summer!

After 3 hours at Lac Beauchamp, we went out to McDonald's for supper, and to play some more!!

Needless to say we are heading off to bed and are looking forward to a full nights' sleep!! Many more weekend adventures to come!! After all, it IS the May long weekend! Hurray!!
