Hula-hoopin'

I found Maelie's shadow really awesome in this picture!

Before

and after

Sunny Sunday

Yesterday morning we spontaneously decided to go to a different park. We ended up at a park in the west end of Ottawa by the water.

Maelie really enjoys nature and loves to be outside where there is mud, water and a forest! She really takes after her grand-maman for that!!

The kids played by the little river for a bit... there may or may not have been feet sinking in the mud involved... hehe All these little feet smelled like swamp once we left!!

We had a picnic at the park, played a little bit more, and then Maelie begged for me to take them to a park closer to our house where there is a rather interesting playground (I don't understand a few of the things at that park!)

The kids played around the park and after a while, they ended up just settling in the sand!

I am so happy that the kids enjoyed each other's company so well!!

We came home and had supper and played some MORE!!

I made a recipe from Taste of Home (this picture is from the last time I made it). I really wanted Natalie to taste it but the last time I made it, they had all already disappeared before she got to have any!! This dessert is as chocolatey and gooey as it looks!! The recipe says to put them in 10 ramequins, but I squeezed them into 12 muffin tins and baked them for just about 20 minutes. It is a MUST try recipe!!

So a weekend recap... we spent a LOT of time outdoors... enough to get a bit of color on our faces which is awesome! We had a great time with friends, and we are just too exhausted to go to work and school now! LOL

I must apologize to my spring cleaning which I completely ignored.. but I couldn't help it... it was WAY too nice outside!! There will be other opportunities to clean!

Pretty drawing

Maelie loves to draw on her white board, but as you can imagine, the picture ends up gone after a short time since she erases it and uses the board for something else. I want to remember all those pictures that she draws, so I tend to take pictures of them!

more tulip time!

As I said in my last post, I will go into more detail about our Friday evening! It was too late for me to post a lot last night, but I couldn't resist looking at the pictures. I snapped away over 250 times!!! I love getting pics of the kids in action. The exciting part of our evening for the kids was actually the tree climbing! Much more than the tulips!

Of course we managed to get them to sit on a branch for a picture and them let them loose!

I do realize that Maelie's choice of wearing a skirt may not have been the best, but we DID have pants in the car for when she got cold... or in her case... injured!

Merrick was truly at his happiest when on a branch in a tree!!

At one point Myran was trying to get a bit close to Maelie... being her usual independant self, she tried to get away!!

Have you seen the size of this tree?

Once we were done, injured and tired... what better way to end the day than to go to the park!

At that point it was getting much darker so it was kinda difficult to get good pictures... especially because our subjects were running around really fast!!

I can't wait for the tulips to be in full bloom! I will definitely be back there to take more pictures.

Tulip Festival.... here we come!

Maelie

Tulip time

The thing I love most this time of year is taking pictures of Maelie and the tulips in Ottawa.

We headed out there this evening with Natalie and 2 of her boys for a photo session!

I will post more pics tomorrow as we have to get to bed now!

one last tournament this year!

Maelie went to the provincial Bowler of the year tournament today. She did not play her highest, but she gets very nervous at tournaments. She did good, I think she came in 2nd.

We get a long well-deserved break from tournaments (all summer).

Sunday blogging

This morning started out pretty well! I woke up to little birds chirping outside (though their timing is a bit early). As I was relaxing in bed, I could hear Maelie giggling in her sleep! Is there anything more wonderful than that?

Maelie and Tristan played a little bit of Battleship to kill time before Maelie's bowling tournament which is this afternoon.

I find them SO adorable when they play Battleship! They are getting better and better... signs that they are growing up!

To Maelie's delight, is there ANYTHING better for her breakfast than chocolate chunk English Bay cookies hot out of the oven??

A special note to wish Happy Birthday to Maelie's Grandma Mae in Portage!!

My Girl

Not one day goes by that I don't thank the heavens for this little girl!

She has taught me to love a love SO deep that I feel my heart will burst!!

You are beautiful Maelie!! Always remember that!

I am proud of you every minute of my life!

Student led conference

Today was the student led conference in Maelie's class.

Here are a few of my favorites in her work. I LOVE the spelling for mac & cheese.

This also may come as a surprise:
LOL

Cute profile picture

Maelie is showing us some of her "money" work... she is good with that!

Here is her Olympic poem:

They have a few class pets:

I am so very proud of you Maelie! You are doing awesome at school!!

Pure Bliss

allergy tests

This week Maelie went for allergy tests.

She got poked with a bunch of allergens and waited.... The poking was not bad... it's the itching that was annoying for Maelie! She was blowing on her itchy spots in hopes that they would stop itching!!

Her results stood out pretty clearly for the allergist...

The good side?? She is not allergic to cockroaches! So if we DID want some, we could get some. Go figure!
