Buskerfest... we are back!

Yesterday was the opening night for Buskerfest. We saw AMAZING talent.

We saw a couple from last year, Jacob and Sophie from Dream State Circus. They were splendid! It was really a "you had to be there" moment at one point. As they were dipping their torches in gas, Jacob jokingly poured the gas around Tristan. Then he told Tristan to move out of the gas surrounding him. So Tristan scooted over, but Maelie moved right into the spot ! LOL

Jacob found that funny as did the crowd, and he then offered Maelie a lollipop which was actually a sword. She said yes! The crowd laughed some more and Maelie was ecstatic!

After this show we went to watch Flame Oz. We had never seen them before, but who doesn't like a fire show?? This surpassed my expectations! WOW!

On some pictures all we see are their reflective outfits.

Can you imagine this picture in real life? It was action packed and exciting to say the least!

Maelie of course got her usual picture with 2 of the performers. The guy holding her was the main one doing the talking. The group is from Australia. Needless to say I would have listened to that accent all day and night!

Buskerfest was just starting today, so I suggest to anyone in the area to get out there and see some of the shows! They are AWESOME!! Of course we stayed out way too late... but it was well worth it :)

lovely company

This weekend we were blessed with a visit from my aunt Helene and Yvon. It rained horribly on Friday, however on Saturday it was a wonderful, miraculous day of mainly sun! We had one brief downpour at the end of the afternoon, but we had completed our adventures of the day... or almost!

This morning we packed up an headed out to the Byward Market, then to Dow's Lake and then to the Experimental Farm. We had the luxury of being chauffered in a convertible!

Maelie didn't like it that much because "the wind!", "the sun!" , "it's too hot!", etc etc etc... so I am glad I do not have the pressure of her wanting a convertible at this point.

Here are a few pictures of our adventures.

As it turns out now, our guests are gone for a visit to the casino, Maelie is playing pretend with her friend, and I am half dead ready to go to sleep! ha!

oxymoron?

A "no boys" allowed sign and "my daughter" is an oxymoron.

Maelie made this sign at Jacinthe's house the other day, however what is strange is that she practically ONLY plays with boys. A prerequisite to her being your friend is that you be MALE. I am not sure if this is a phase ... if it is, it's a long one.

my standards

My standards are not as high as many people I know...

but my kitchen is spiffy clean according to MY standards! It won't last, so I thought I would take a picture!

beach night

Last night we had a BBQ at the beach.

The kids played, swam, ate, hunted for bugs, fish and frogs, and all in all had a very busy good time. Us grown ups sat and enjoyed each other's company.

Here is the beautiful sand castle before:

Sunday Adventures

This morning we got going pretty early. We headed out to Little Ray's Reptile Zoo. I love going there because of the hands on learning we get! They are always introducing us to different reptiles and other animals. I always leave there smarter than when I arrived!

Maelie of course is completely into it and she loves touching anything they will let her touch!

We spent a few hours there, had a pic nic and then went to run a few errands.

When we got home Maelie hopped in the pool with Koryne. When it was time for supper, Maelie had her supper in her boat! I guess that is what we call dinner & cruise.

What a fun day! The sun was out and we had a great time with some friends. Back to the grind tomorrow....

the boat

Yesterday, I asked Bill to pick up a boat (for the pool) that was on sale at Walmart. Maelie was out with her friend at Papanack Zoo, and so he was able to get it before she got home. I was vacuuming the stairs when I heard her come in and she started shrieking and jumping and yelling! I thought maybe she was hurt or that she saw something scary. I stopped what I was doing and ran upstairs. Her reaction was due to seeing the boat that Bill was blowing up in the living room!! She was SO ecstatic!! Actually that's an understatement. She was completely OUT OF THIS WORLD full of joy!

She immediately jumped in the pool and sat in her boat for about half an hour. Let's hope it lasts!!

I love seeing my little girl so happy. She has been having a wonderful summer so far with her friends. She has not said she was bored ONCE in the whole summer so far. If anything, she doesn't feel she has enough hours in one day. She has been busy from morning to night and has been sleeping in til at least 8 am every day.

We are off for more adventures today!

Winter Wishes

Here is a cute card I just made for another challenge at Stacey's Stampin' Stage.

I had to use 4 colors: Rich Razzleberry, Ruby Red, Lavender Lace and White

I had my doubts about the mix of color, but I think it turned out pretty neat!

flip flop crocs

This is what I found today on sale for 4.95!!!

i LOVE them!

Sunday - Funday

Our morning started off with Maelie trying out a science experiment from Maelie's new science book. The book is honestly driving me crazy because she wants to try everything out without putting anything away.

Here she is reading the instructions.

Once all of this was said and over with, we went strawberry picking. A lot of them were rotten but the ones that were left were gorgeous! and TASTY! Don't be fooled... Maelie is only posing for the camera and not actually EATING the strawberry. She is not a berry person.

Our adventures were not over after this! We had to get Maelie some sandals and get me some new Crocs! I managed to find some one sale. Awesome!

We went to the skating rink in Kanata and Maelie did a few laps before falling and hurting herself.

She then refused to skate again until she had a full head hockey helmet. (She had been wearing her bike helmet all this time). So we left in a not-so-good mood. On our way home, on a street close to our house, there was a yard sale. Out of the blue, we decided to stop. What did we find by pure coincidence? A hockey helmet in really good condition!! So I guess Maelie will be skating again one day!

Once home, Maelie went swimming, I did a few chores. I think our day was pretty full! and I deserve a rest!

I can't end this post without adding a pic of another card. I made this one last night.

A lazy Saturday morning

I was up at 5 am this morning, surfed the net a bit and found a simple brownie recipe. It didn't involved making noise with the mixer, just hand stirring, so I made them. They were delicious!

The after Maelie was up, we spent time crafting a little. She discovered the joy of watercoloring as I made a couple of cute cards.

I got the idea for this card from someone's blog, but now I forget who!! This is not MY original design. I love it!

This one is a bit strange. The flower is outlined in glitter. I am into the green/yellow/brown combinations today it seems.

It's stormy and raining outside so we can't really enjoy our lovely summer day outdoors. We will just enjoy it indoors!!

another Christmas challenge!

I really like this card... I put a bit of glitter under the snowmen to make it look a bit snowy.

This card is actually for the Just Christmas and Birthdays challenge.

Christmas in July

I am getting excited to make Christmas cards already! I am hoping to get them all done in time for December 1st.

I decided to participate in today's challenge at Stamp Something. The rule was : anything Christmassy.

I love the new hostess level 3 set from Stampin' up. I love snowmen! I colored them and added a bit of glitter. Note: my picture taking skills are not the best!!

pushing my luck??

Just yesterday I got an e-mail from a Stampin' Up demo Josee Smuck saying I won one thing off my favorite items list of the new catalogue! HURRAY! I was so excited! I chose one of the stamp sets on my list and e-mailed her back.

What luck I had!

So today, I am pushing my luck and entering a contest in hopes that I win!

Stampin Addicts has tons of ideas using the Stampin’ Up! Big Shot and is giving away a Big Shot Die Pack as part of the Stampin’ Up! summer celebration. To enter, all I have to do is write about it. So this is it! I did my part!

Merveilles de sable

Today was a perfect day to head out to Merveilles de sable at Lac Beauchamp. The sun was out and it was nice, but not HOT or humid. Picture above is an amateur sculpture of Gloria from Madagascar. She is gorgeous! Look at these AMAZING sand sculptures:

Maelie tried a bit of tug-of-war. A bunch of girls against one man. he gave up i think!

Maelie and Maria went in the paddle boat.

Afterwards, Maelie also got a chance to try out the kayak and she very proudly made it by herself!!

We even got a ginormous snow cone.

And I let Maelie get an air brush tattoo. Yes this was an exception as I don't usual say yes to these luxuries!!

On our way in, Maelie wanted to climb the rocks. I told her "wait til we leave, this way if you get hurt, we will at least have seen the sand sculptures!"
Here she is as queen of the world!

After we left Lac Beauchamp, Maelie was going to a bday party so I picked her up at 6:00. They weren't done so we stayed until 7:00. Once we got home, she walked in the house for about one minute, then walked out with her friend Christopher next door. They've been swimming alternately here and at his house since then.

Bedtime will be pretty soon! (hopefully!)
Tomorrow is back to reality & routine.
