I'm a copy-CASEr

I enjoy looking at cards on splitcoast stampers or on different blogs, and then going ahead and copying them. Not to the T , but the idea. (well some end up very very similar)

Here are a few things I worked on today. With a later bedtime now that Maelie is out of school, I get to work on some projects with her.

One other card I can't post yet as it for someone whose bday is coming up and they read this blog.

Enjoy!

Simple & cute

My favorite flower being the sunflower, I HAD to make a simple card CASE'd from various ones I've seen online.

I didn't add a sentiment, I will save that for when it is needed.

Pirate adventures

Today we visited Pirate Adventures. Basically, it's eexactly what the title is: a pirate adventure. When you arrive, you get to dress up in pirate gear and get a face painting. They give you a pirate name and you head off at see! or to Mooney's Bay.

The captain and the entertainers on the boat were great.

We unfortunately had a bit of a small crowd that included a few little kids of under 2 yrs old. Only a few were over 4. This is probably the best for kids 5-9. Maelie enjoyed herself a lot! I wasn't sure at first because she wasn't smiling much. But in the end she said "wow, this was so much fun!" so I think she may just have been a bit tired.

Pirate Pete came by and the kids had to shoot water at him with the cannons. He then fell in the water and ended up on our boat!

They ended up finding a treasure filled with gold (in the water)
:

After the treasure was found, they played a bit of limbo and told stories.

Here is my little pirate... or my biker dude... not sure!

Sketch 6X6 page

This is my first time actually making a page from a sketch! This is for an entry in Cindy Major's challenge.

I actually flipped the sketch over though.

I SO love the Just Beachy stamp set. It inspires me! must be because it is summer.

All products used are SU except for the sandpaper. The picture doesn't do it justice, because you can't *feel* the sandpaper.

What do you think for my first challenge?

Flower pot

Ever since I'd seen this flower pot cards on various blogs, I wanted to try it out!

Yesterday I finally received my daisy #2 die so I decided to try it this morning.

It turned out AWESOME! The little tag can be adapted to any occasion and a message can be stamped/written.

Maelie has a bday party to go to today and so she made a flower pot card as well. I am teaching her to use the tools properly. One tool i will NOT share however is this:

I received my pack of 48 Stampin' up markers yesterday (and the IN-colors) and I will be very very selfish and only use them myself or at workshops/demos.

Vacation Day 4

Today has been a bit of a slower day. Last night Maelie had a sleepover, so I was able to sleep in until 7 am. That might not be exciting for most people, but 7 am is much later than when I usually wake up!

We were supposed to have a cloudy day today, however it is 32 degrees outside right now, 36 with the humidex. We have spent the day in the pool so far and just relaxing. I think the fatigue is now just catching up with me! and the heat from yesterday!

This is the note Maelie taped on our front door today:

I started working on a tri shutter card. I have been pondering all day which stamp set I want to complete it with. Not sure if i prefer a flower or beachy theme. Here is what it looks like so far:

Maelie just left to go to Tristan's house for a little bit. I will try and accomplish a few things while she is away! When she is home, all she does is ask if she can play with Tristan, so with all her whining or complaining that life sucks when she is away from him, I don't get anything done. On a sad note, Tristan will be leaving for 2 weeks starting Saturday morning... it will be a major challenge to get through that period of time without him! It's a good thing we are having sleepover company, Canada Day activities and Merveilles de sable next week. We may even be able to fit in a visit to see my family. We will see!

more on Vacation Day 3

Today was gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

We headed off to Aylmer as there is a nice beach AND rides on St-Jean Baptiste.

Maelie and Tristan spent hours on the rides, with a few minutes of swimming here and there. By the end, I thought they would fall asleep on the rides ! They were SO exhausted.

Wow... I have no complaints about this vacation! 31 degrees right now, pure sun! and wonderful air conditioning in the house. Ahhhhhh.....

Scrambled eggs for breakfast, dear?

No man makes me scrambled eggs for breakfast! How is it Maelie gets all the luck? hehe

recap of vacation day 2 - Vacation day 3

Yesterday was mainly spent at Maelie's school for the last day. I still cannot believe it was the last day! A lot of kids were missing from school since on Monday, we learned there was a case of Swine Flu at the school in an older grade. A lot of parents kept their little ones home. They disinfected the whole school on Monday so I wasn't worried. I wasn't going to let Maelie miss the last day! :)

After school, most of the time was spent doing this:

Maelie had supper with her friend Christopher (neighbor) and then Tristan came over for a sleepover. By 6:45, Maelie asked me if they could go to bed. She was EXHAUSTED! At 8 pm, they climbed into their respective beds, and I headed for a nice relaxing bath! By the time I came out at 8:45, they were sound asleep snoring away. Gotta love kids who don't argue about bedtime!!

Today is St-Jean Baptiste Day here in Quebec. So anyone who works in Quebec is off. Those who live on this side of the river but work on the Ottawa side are not off. They get a day in August instead, which I don't. More things are closed in Quebec than on any other holiday!! Even on Canada Day, the grocery stores are open. but not today! Then again, if we need anything, we can just go across the river.

Environment Canada is still calling for gorgeous sun today and 31 degrees.

This may actually be it for the gorgeous weather during my vacation, so please don't get all jealous! :)

Today our plans are not really formed yet. I was thinking of all the possibilities! We could go to the beach, find some St-Jean festivities, stay home and swim, etc... Now that Maelie is off as well, she can sleep in, which is awesome!

recap of day 1 and MY vacation - Day 2

So I survived day 1 of my vacation without actually doing any housework! uh-oh!

Here is what Environment Canada is calling for again today with 29 degrees:

Yesterday we ended up at the beach after school and stayed there until 7:30! it was nice and relaxing. The kids caught fish, tadpoles and a cute little snake.

They did actually swim a little but the majority of the time was spent hunting for stuff!

Or getting wet, and then rolling around in the sand, only to go rinse off again in the lake!

Once we got back home, Maelie hopped in the pool. I figured the chlorine would kill any wierd parasite or bacteria on her body. Afterwards, she had a bath and then went to bed. She was exhausted.

I went ahead and prepared the little surprises for the teachers, and support staff, and daycare staff. Maelie makes her list every occasion. So now, not only do we have all of the current teachers, but she insisted we make a gift for the grade 2 teachers. I think this is her way of showing that she is a little nervous for next year and wants to please them right away.

I made small bags of 10 chocolates and a few different types of boxes that I picked up at Pritchard's Packaging yesterday. I ended up thinking I should have bought more of the round boxes! They look great!

All I hope is that the chocolates don't melt before we give them out! This is actually why Maelie will hand them out first thing this morning.

My plans for today are simple. I will be working on preparing a snack for Maelie's class and will go spend the afternoon there with them. They won't be working too hard !

They may not even have many students at school today. We received the news yesterday that there was a diagnosed case of swine flu in the school. Apparently they were having the whole school disinfected yesterday evening.

Well that's the update for now... recap of yesterday and what's on today.

I am LOVING my time off!!

MY vacation - Day 1

Today is my first day of vacation. I guess I don't consider the weekend a vacation because we get those all the time. But a whole week off? I very seldomly ever took one other than for travel purposes. That little sun up there is what Environment Canada is calling for this week. Makes me happy!

So let's see what I have up my sleeve today.

First off, I went to Walmart at 8 am. I LOVE going to Walmart at that time of the day. There is hardly anyone there. I just take my leisurely time going up and down the aisles. I needed to get 2 Sterilite shelves for my scrapbooking paper and cardstock. These fit perfectly in my new pantry.

I also have to work on a few projects for the end of school year.

My projects may or may not include a lot of chocolate....

So this is my day so far and it's only 10:21! I will be picking up Maelie for lunch. Since it's hot and gorgeous, I will pack a pic nic for supper and we will head out to the beach!
