Weekend recap

We had quite the interesting weekend! First off, Friday I had an Easter card making workshop at Tracie's house which was actually the highlight of the weekend.

Unfortunately, at the end of the workshop, Maelie threw up on Tracie's couch!! I was mortified!! and also felt bad for Maelie. She ended up throwing up on and off until 5:30 AM. When she finally got up at 9:30, she had a high fever (103.1). I was feeling horrible myself and we ended up napping for a few hours in the afternoon. Missing out on the most beautiful day we had so far!! We did get an hour or outside time later on around 5 pm though. It felt nice!

Today, we are back on track and I have been spring cleaning all morning so far. I washed the kitchen walls, and a lot of the kitchen so far. Still have a lot to do though! I am hoping to get to the living room soon as well, but may have to be saved for another day.

So all in all this weekend was ok, if you take out the puking part!! I am not ready to go back to work, I wish I could stay home and finish my cleaning! I may need to take a day off after April 1st (vacation time starts up again).

something in common

What do these 2 pictures have in common?

Why yes! a rabbit! Except that mine doesn't juggle eggs! ... yet.

Spring cards galore

I stayed home today and rested as I had a sore back. Since I couldn't stay in one spot for long, I relaxed around the house. In between my sitting/standing/lying down, I created these 2 cards.

This one is my favorite! Pictures don't do it justice. It is truly a refreshing design.

I find this one cute yet of course it is not perfect, not even close! I deiniftely need to get some nice watercolors for the coloring.

Who knew I would enjoy using ribbon on cards! I had no clue I could make it work!

(notice the cute little easel I put them on to get their picture taken? hehe Now I need their own studio for pictures!)

for Jo

A little treat box for my sister :) I tend to forget to make her some stuff since she is so far away! But we will be seeing each other soon.

Very simple to make, and filled with nice homemade treats.

Friday goodbye cupcakes

Here are cute little cupcakes that I made tonight for a little goobye ceremony tomorrow at work. Hopefully noone is turned off by this color because all of them are purple! I put some little butterfly sprinkles on some of them.

I've actually fallen in love with decorating cupcakes ! i just love how the icing covers them.

Very simple. Very appealing. Very tasty.

another goodbye gift

Another colleague is leaving work this week. I made her a chocolate mug (first time it ever worked without cracking!)with chocolate pretzels in it. The pretzel is covered with chocolate happy faces and flowers.

My pictures didn't come out so well. I should have taken a pic before wrapping it! On the mug, if you are wondering, I put her initials in chocolate and a butterfly to match the gift tag.

The gift tag was made with a new Stampin' up set that I ADORE. I added some Martha Stewart glitter on the little flowers on the butterfly.

Maelie's bday party invitations

Well I came up with a sample for the invitations I am going to make for Maelie's party coming up soon.I mixed a bit of stamping with a bit of clip art for the Totally Spies part.

It doesn't look as cute on the picture as it does in person. I put yellow paper on our coordinates just so I won't get freak visitors!

For the top of the card, I printed off the Totally Spies logo. I stamped the calendar and the number 4 and April. I punched the arrow out with my new Stampin' Up punch and stamped "It's a party" on it. The card is eggplant on color and then there is a burgundy 3.5 X 3 cardboard for the calendar, topped with white card stock. The arrow is in light purple. The ink is dark purple except for the calendar which is black. I tried to mix the Totally Spies colors to make it "match".

On the inside, I printed off a Totally Spies picture, and a text box in Word with the details.

I really find it cute looking! It's SO not easy to find really nice Totally Spies stuff. There is NO merchandise whatsoever either.

I'll try and post a picture of all the invitations together. I also have to make a different invitation for the 2nd party, a smaller group.

Happt St-Patrick's Day!

Today, we can all be Irish!

Last night, we had a visitor when we were sleeping. Maelie and I tried to trick the leprechaun by putting a pot of fake cold to see if he would come and steal it. He did come, but probably realized that it was not real so he made a mess and left...

I brought in some shamrock cookies at work today, and set up my candy shelf. I love having that shelf at my desk. It seems to welcome people from all over!

A nice weekend

This weekend was beautiful! On Friday, Maelie came home early from school as she apparently was not feeling well. Turns out, she was FINE. On a normal day, I would have sent her to bed (since she was *sick*). However, Friday was Amelie's bday party and it would have hurt Amelie's feelings had we not been there. So we went. But I didn not allow Maelie to sleep over (since she was *sick*).

On Saturday, Tristan came over and him and Maelie had a wonderful time. It allowed me to get my floors washed! They are always so busy and involved with each other that I get free time to clean!

On Sunday, Maelie tried out her rollerblades. It is actually pretty hard on our street because it is a bit bumpy, so we will have to try on a pathway or something.

So Maelie switched from her rollerblades to her scooter, and then her bike. There are big puddles on our street which means it is a lot of fun when your mama encourages you to go through them!!

Now for another week... my Stampin' up products are scheduled to come in TODAY! YAY! Tomorrow is St-Patrick's day, and I have a few treats up my sleeve. This week is also one coworkers last week at work sadly enough. So another goodbye party to plan! That's the good part!

Also, Maelie's bday party prep is in full swing, especially once I get my Stampin' up stuff, because then I can make the invitations! It's scheduled for April 4th with english friends and April 5th with french friends! Stay tuned...

Birthday boxes

These are little birthday boxes I decorated and filled with chocolates. 2 people at work were having a birthday and 1 person at my old work (i was joining them for lunch yesterday). It doesn't show on the picture but the tags stood out a bit because of some sticky foam pieces.

This is how I like to mix my love of treat making and my love of paper crafts and containers! They all blend well together.

Any gold at the end of the rainbow?

Maelie and I are plotting a few ideas to catch a leprechaun next week on St-Patrick's Day (March 17th).

Today, we made a little pot of gold surrounded by a rainbow. This is an idea I got on Make and Takes.

Do you think our leprechaun will be tempted to come and get our gold nuggets? I know the rabbit accidentally ate a couple... he may end up eating the leprechaun too if he sees him!

Surprise snowfall

You know, when there is talk of 5 cm of snow on the environment Canada website, you have to remember that they are wrong 95% of the time. This time they were wrong in their measurements.

This:

is a lot more than 5 cm.It's what we woke up to at my mom's house! We didn't get a drop of the white stuff at home.

So proud of my daughter!

Now wouldn't you be proud if this was your daughter holding a tarantula?

Wouldn't you love for your child to bring home pictures of a snake eating a rat?

Maelie visited Little Ray's Reptile zoo yesterday with her friend Tristan. I would have loved to be there too !

a sweet goodbye gift

A colleague at work is leaving this week for a new workplace. Sadly enough, this is one I got along with very well!

I made her a cute little goodbye chocolate arrangement. She has a white & beige cat so I figured I would make a little cat for her. One of the eyes is a bit darker, but oh well! That's the joys of homemade stuff... there is always an imperfection along the way!

Here is the gift tag that I made using my Stampin' Up stuff. The Top Note was folded in half, then stamped with yellow dots. I stamped a cute little message on it and of course... added a bit of glitter on the star to jazz it up!.

Stampin' up party!

Yesterday I had a Stampin' up party at my house. i was SO excited. I had been looking forward to this for WEEKS and WEEKS! Thise who know me know it's very hard to wait weeks for something!

Many people ended up cancelling and so I got nervous thinking no one would show up. I can't help being sensitive about these things, and so I was almost in tears before Tracie arrived! But finally, 4 people came. They didn't know each other so that made it interestig too! Thank you Jacinthe, Lorraine, Natalie and Nathalie for coming! oh, and Tracie my demonstrator.

I seriously had a very, VERY good time! I don't often do things for ME. Usually all my activities revolve around Maelie. So this was very nice!

Here are the projects we did:

One was "Just buzzin' by to say " and inside i stamped "have a honey of a day". Everyone seems to love these cute little bees! For added pizzazz, we put a lot of glitter on the little wings and the flower. This project was customizable with other sayings if you don't like the one in the set. For example, Jacinthe made the card but used a french text. Other just used the "have a honey of a day " part.

Next was a card i love using my favorite stamp set! "flight of the butterfly" It is obviously an item I ordered! You can't see it on this card, but the set comes with 3 little text stamps that curl! I love it!

Lastly, we made a little box. This box was die cut with the Big Shot Sizzix machine (on my WISH list!) There are many many die cuts that come with the machine so you can make big shapes, top notes, baskets, etc etc....

We stamped the box before folding it up with a stamp set that i wasn't really attracte to, but once put all together with the box, I kinda like it. On it there is a curly label with thank you, but there are so many other tags you can use for different occasions! Inside, the guests put some of my homemade chocolates to take home with them! :) Even grown ups end up with loot bags...er... boxes at parties!

Anyway, i had SUCH a good time and am so excited to sit down with my loot when it comes it!!
